Ty Arth is the only residential house situated in the grounds of Headlands School, providing a home for up to six young people between the ages of 7-19. The home consists of a large living room, a spacious dining room, a games room, six bedrooms all with ensuite shower rooms, a visitor’s room, modern kitchen, two staff bedrooms and two staff offices.
All the young people are assigned a keyworker, who is responsible for monitoring their physical and emotional wellbeing, liaising with families, local authorities and social services, and attending meetings regarding their care. All the young people are encouraged to personalise their bedrooms to help them feel a sense of belonging. They are also consulted about the decorating of the communal areas to make it feel homely. They are taken out on activities with staff and other young people from Ty Arth, to help them to learn important life skills.
We provide a range of activities such as, caravan holidays, swimming, bowling, cycling and clubs of individual interests.
In Ty Arth, we prioritise building healthy positive relationships through providing a caring, nurturing and safe environment. This allows us to gain a deeper understanding of the young people we care for , meaning we can better support their needs and allow them to be accepting of themselves.
We believe relationships are the most powerful agent of change and this can be seen at every level of the service we provide. We use a therapeutic approach to help our young people develop new coping strategies for managing difficult emotions, to feel safe and secure, and have their voices heard.
